The Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS) has approved a set of technical documentation for the tank container HELIUM CM 42 manufactured by JSC “Cryogenmash”, designed for temporary storage and multimodal transportation of cooled liquid helium.
Specialists of the Container Technical Surveillance Department have confirmed the compliance of the project of the Russian developer JSC “Cryogenmash” with the applicable requirements of the RS, as well as with the international conventions and codes.
According to Georgy Bedrik, Deputy General Director of RS, “approval of the cryogenic tank container project by the Register is the important step in the development of domestic cryogenic technologies in the field of cargo transportation. The container, complying with all applicable RS requirements, will ensure the reliable and efficient supply of cryogenic products by various transportation means, which, in turn, will make a significant contribution to the development of knowledge-intensive industries”.
“Cryogenmash” has wide experience in the development and manufacture of storage and transportation systems for cryogenic products, including liquid hydrogen and helium. The Russian tank-container for transportation of liquid helium HELIUM CM 42 will at least meet the best world models in its parameters. This is an interesting project that gives us an opportunity to apply once again our knowledge and experience in the field of cryogenic temperatures to produce a product that is in demand in Russia,” said Evgeny Matveev, General Director of JSC "Cryogenmash".

For the first time in practice, the tank container will be equipped with an innovative telematics device model TSGV-1. The device will allow to register the data on operation monitoring parameters and to transfer the information to the server infrastructure for further processing.
The Register has issued a Certificate of Type Approval for the model TGV-1 within the digital transformation of the transportation complex of the Russian Federation and the development of digital logistics.

JSC "Cryogenmash" is a leader in Russia in the production of technologies and equipment for air separation, technical gas supply and development of integrated solutions in the field of LNG. The equipment manufactured by "Cryogenmash" produces about 70% of the annual production of technical gases in Russia. During its history, “Cryogenmash” has developed and supplied about 650 cryogenic air separation plants to 25 countries of the world. "Cryogenmash" is the only one Russian company, which is a member of the global Hydrogen Council.

Liquid helium equipment is one of the most complex and knowledge-intensive types of cryogenic products. It requires the use of specific materials and production technologies, as well as the experience in working with cryogenic temperatures. Only a few countries in the world - and Russia is one of them - have such experience. “Cryogenmash” has produced the efficient helium equipment for Russian and Indian companies, has wide experience in development and introduction of stationary and transport tanks for cryogenic products at the temperature level of minus 253 degrees Celsius and below to the Russian and foreign markets.

The classification society Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS, Register) has been operating since 1913, working in all areas of the maritime industry, based on the principles of improving operational and environmental safety of maritime transportation. RS performs the review of design documentation, technical supervision of construction and operation of ships and offshore structures; certification of ships and companies for compliance with the provisions of international conventions; approval of industrial products and productions; certification of management systems for compliance with the requirements of international and national standards.
In modern conditions RS implements actively the concept “More than class”, expanding the scope of services in the field of engineering consulting, development of technical documentation for ships in operation, marine warranty survey, certification and inspection of its own productions. RS also performs technical supervision of containers of all types, including the tank containers and offshore containers, confirmation of compliance of containers for hazardous cargoes, provides with declaration and certification services for hazardous and bulk cargoes.
