PJSC “Cryogenmash” at the conference “Carbon Capture Utilization & Storage (CCUS) 2021”

04.10.2021
On 28th of September the first conference “Carbon Capture Utilization & Storage (CCUS) 2021”, concerning the carbon dioxide trapping and storage, was held in Moscow. The conference was organized by CREON Energy and partner companies (For details, click here: https://www.ccus.ru/).

Specialists of oil and gas sector, engineering, agricultural chemistry, metallurgy, power industry, representatives of state authorities and scientific society participated in this conference.
Decarbonization program faces the world industry with new challenges. Carbon dioxide trapping and storage technology (CCUS) will help significantly reduce the impact of production facilities on climate.

Alexander Mazin, Strategic Development Director of PJSC “Cryogenmash”, said about the oxygen capabilities in CCUS sector. He said about the present technologies, existing in the world, which are the most promising for removing of CO2 in industrial production.
“Cryogenmash is more interested in Oxyfuel combustion technology, when the fuel combustion is provided in oxygen, for production of which the air separation plant is used, — said Alexander Mazin. — When combusting the fuel, air is replaced by oxygen. In this case the whole nitrogen and its oxides (hardly to say eco-friendly in itself) are removed. The volume of combustible air is reduced almost fourfold; CO2 and H2O are resulted at the end. The complex modification of heat and power stations with conversion into the fuel combustion in oxygen medium allows trapping the million tons of CO2, and will become the important step in the way of environmental impact reduction”.
