On August 21, 2019 the official ceremony dedicated to commissioning of the new cryogenic production facility took place. Igor Vasilyev, Governor of the Kirov Region, Dmitry Trushkov, Director of the "KCCHK" JSC "UCHC "Uralchim", Maxim Rassokhin, General Director of JSC "HaloPolymer", Elena Savina, Mayor of Kirovo-Chepetsk, Maria Sokolova, General Director of PJSC "Cryogenmash" and Vadim Mikhalkevich, Director of "Cryogas" LLC cut a symbolic ribbon and gave start to a new facility.

PJSC "Cryogenmash", the largest Russian designer and manufacturer of cryogenic equipment, has implemented a major investment project at the Kirovo-Chepetsk Chemical Company. A new nitrogen station was built and put into operation, which includes two modern cryogenic air separation plants AAzh-5.5, liquid nitrogen storage system of total volume of 500 m3, independent water supply system, and compressor equipment.

Investments from Cryogenmash amounted to over 1 billion rubles. "Cryogas" LLC, the subsidiary of PJSC "Cryogenmash", will supply the branch of "KCCHK" JSC "UCHC "Uralchim" and JSC "HaloPolymer" with the required quality gaseous nitrogen for 20 years.

The new equipment made in Russia will replace the plants that have reached their intended operating life and will allow increasing the reliability of nitrogen supply to customers and reducing energy consumption.

"It is important for us that the industry of Kirov region be developed, new large companies came to the region and new production facilities were built. For the region it means job creation, growth of tax payments, development of social infrastructure", said Igor Vasilyev, the Governor of the Kirov Region.

Dmitry Trushkov, Director of the "KCCHK" branch noted the importance of the implemented project to ensure the reliability and efficiency of the branch production. "PJSC "Cryogenmash" is the Russian leader in manufacture of the equipment and building of the stations for supplying technical gases to similar production facilities. We are convinced that a long-term successful and mutually beneficial cooperation has been launched today," he said.

"Ten years ago the first "Cryogenmash"'s project to supply technical gases to a large industrial consumer was launched. Today our company has already eight such projects, and we were able to become one of the four largest suppliers of technical gases in the country, providing our customers with high quality products in different regions of the country," said Maria Sokolova, General Director of PJSC "Cryogenmash".

The new plant for gaseous nitrogen production will provide blowing of pipelines, apparatuses and tankers, tanks and other process equipment at the production facilities of the "KCCHK" branch. Nitrogen is also fed to the flare lines. Nitrogen is used to: create an inert atmosphere in the vessels filled with organic liquids, pressurize the equipment and pipelines, seal thermocouple connectors at ammonia production, and store passivated equipment and regenerated catalysts under vacuum conditions. It is supplied to the seals of ammonia pumps, dry seals of the synthesis gas compressor in ammonia production.

For the production facilities of "HaloPolymer Kirovo-Chepetsk" LLC, as per the regulations, required is gaseous nitrogen with nitrogen content of at least 99.99% and oxygen content of no more than 0.01% by volume. In view of specific features of the processes, nitrogen supply should be continuous, i.e. 24/7, including probable voltage loss or the nitrogen station equipment partial shutdown for repair and maintenance. For example, in case of nitrogen supply to compressor seals interruption, methane chloroform and, hence, the entire chlorine group of production facilities will stop.
