A business meeting on import substitution for LNG production was held on September 5 in Nizhny Novgorod with the participation of NOVATEK, Rosatom, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation and major suppliers of equipment used for LNG production and supply. Cryogenmash representatives attended the meeting as well.

Cryogenmash is currently executing the contracts signed this year with NOVATEK for the process equipment design, manufacture and supply of for the "Arctic Cascade" project.

At the meeting, Leonid Mikhelson, the head and the co-owner of NOVATEK, noted that at the end of 2022, the company is going to commission Line I of the second project "Arctic LNG" and then, until 2030, to put into operation 6.6 million tons of liquefaction line annually, and by 2030, the company believes that it will be possible to reach 70 million tons of LNG per year.

Andrei Nekipelov, the head of Atomenergomash (Rosatom's machine-building division), said that the total investment of Russian companies in LNG production equipment by 2030 would amount to $80-100 billion.

The main subject discussed at the meeting was the development of two test facilities for the equipment to be manufactured in Russia. This refers to hydraulic complex for cryogenic tests (LNG pumps, liquid expanders) and a gas system for compressors and drives testing.
